Groups of Pitches – in Woodland Glades – Our Speciality

Group camping in a woodland glade

You can book secluded grassy glades for groups of up to four families.

The different grassy glades can accommodate up to four families. Wherever you camp, the oaks give you dappled shade so your tents don't overheat but you still get plenty of sunshine.

To reach each glade by vehicle, a grassy track runs inside the edge of the wood, but please don't drive on the grass in the glades, not even for turning. Beside each glade is a parking area for no more than one vehicle or campervan (up to 6m long). Once you've unloaded, we ask that other vehicles are parked in our farmyard car-park about 400–500m away.

In each glade there is:

Individual Pitches - on the Woodland Avenue

The grassy woodland avenue

We offer a few pitches for individual families right next to the wild half of the wood on a woodland avenue.

There are a few pitches for individual families on the grassy woodland avenue. These have no vehicular access over the grass, so we provide trolleys to wheel your gear from the track at the woodland edge, about 100m away.

Unlike the woodland glades, a fire bowl and firewood are not included with the pitches on the avenue. You could cook your breakfast on the nearby communal barbecue or fire bowls (described below) but you would need to buy a bundle of firewood. Timber littering the woodland floor must not be collected for firewood – we leave that for all our insects and worms to live under.

Facilities for Sharing

Communal area

The social hub of the campsite offers shared cooking, a friendly supper table and communal fire bowls.

The social hub of the campsite is in the very heart of the wood. Here you can cook on the dragon pizza oven & barbecue and eat at the long harvest supper table cut from our own ash trees; or relax around our large communal fire bowls.

We reserve 5 acres of the wood for wildlife, which you can observe through the trees. The rest of the 11-acre wood is open for exploration with plenty of spots for den-building among the coppiced hazel bushes beneath the oaks. For games, a long wide grassy avenue cuts through the middle of the wood, and we add new things from time to time – this year a mud kitchen within sight of the communal area and a bale castle.

Campsite layout

The layout of the glades, the individual pitches, the social hub and the wild half of the wood.

We supply no power to the wood. Like all Greener Camping Club sites, our wood is a pool of calm with no amplification and quiet between 10pm and 7:30am. So you can reconnect with the sounds of nature and gaze up at the stars.

You can buy our honey and eggs from the farmyard and arrange for deliveries of milk etc.
We do not provide laundry facilities, but we can refresh your freezer blocks.

Tucked under the trees between the glades, there are two woodland toilet huts, hand-built using recycled timber, each with two clean roomy composting toilets with wash basins and a gas-heated shower.
