Terms & Conditions

These terms & conditions are common to most Greener Camping Club sites.

Terms & Conditions of Booking

Nether Oaks Camping is the trading name of JC Larter & Co that is the provider of this holiday.

By making a holiday booking you accept the following Terms & Conditions:

Greener Camping Club

The Greener Camping Club

In order to comply with countryside planning policy, we operate as a Greener Camping Club members-only campsite. The Club was established by people with a passion for sustainable, eco-friendly camping holidays. When you book your holiday with us, you will be enrolled as a member of the Club. Membership costs just £12 for the calendar year and gives you access to some of the greenest campsites in the UK. It also includes participation in the Club’s ‘Trees for Life’ scheme, whereby a tree is planted for every member we enrol.

Payment

Cancellation by You

If you cancel your holiday:

A cancellation of part of your booking will follow the above refund rules, but just for the cancelled part. Bookings are not transferable to another family without our prior agreement in writing. If you are concerned about the prospect of cancellation, please take out holiday insurance.

Cancellation by Us

Nether Oaks Camping reserves the right to cancel a camping holiday at short notice if we are unable to provide a safe camping environment, due to extreme weather conditions, ill health, fire, flooding or any other extenuating circumstances beyond our control.

We reserve the right to introduce special cancellation conditions in the event of restrictions on campsites such as those during the coronavirus pandemic.

Extreme Weather

When camping near trees there is a greater risk from boughs or trees falling due to gales or lightning. When strong gales or extreme lightning storms are forecast we reserve the right to close the site. In this eventuality, for the duration of the storm, we can help you move to a lovely 3-acre meadow half a mile away but still on our farm, which is sheltered by high hedges all round. Even if we do not close the site, but you are concerned about an upcoming storm, you can choose to move your pitch there. It offers a drinking water tap, use of the outside flush loo with hand-basin in our back garden, as well as a rough kitchen area in a barn that opens onto the meadow. It will be up to you to ensure that your tent is robust and pitched correctly.

After a prolonged period of unusually dry hot weather, Nether Oaks Camping reserves the right to ban lighting of fires by visitors.

Please note, we do not provide a refund because the weather has not worked out, or is not to your liking. Nonetheless, extreme weather is covered under ‘Cancellation by Us’.

Arrival & Departure Times

Consideration for Others

Safety of Children & Adults

There are many opportunities for play and adventure at Nether Oaks Camping. Our aim is for children to have a truly enriching experience of space and freedom. But there are contingent risks to be aware of. We permit camp fires, visitors will bring axes or knives for making kindling and splitting firewood, there will be tractors and machinery around on the farm, the showers are powered from propane bottles and visitors might use gas cookers and lamps. These risks are small and should be self-evident - but if you are not clear, please ask!

Please pay careful attention to hand-washing after using the toilets before touching anything else, particularly drinking taps elsewhere on site. Parents are responsible for the supervision of their children on site at all times. Nether Oaks Camping accepts no responsibility for injury incurred on site unless prescribed at law.

Camp Fires

Please only use the designated fire bowls, and please keep them off the ground, as you find them. Do not leave your camp fire unattended and think carefully about whether or not to light a fire if it is windy and/or extremely hot and dry. Please empty disposable barbecues into your fire bowl and leave the foil to cool before recycling. After prolonged periods of dry and heat, we reserve the right to notify everyone that no fires may be lit. Nether Oaks Camping accepts no liability for injury or damage caused by your camp fire. By lighting it you accept full responsibility for it.

Smokers

NO SMOKING anywhere in the wood except your own glade or pitch. To be clear that means no smoking in the social and recreational areas and not even in the wood, nor on the paths through the wood. If you smoke, do it outside, around your pitch, and dispose of your cigarette ends in your camp fire. It is not advisable to smoke inside your tent. If you do so, you accept full responsibility for any resulting fire and its consequences.

Pets Policy

Nether Oaks Camping welcomes well-behaved dogs but, if you bring reactive dog(s) or dogs that are continually yapping or barking, they will not be welcomed by other visitors and we will have to ask you to leave without refund. Also:

Pets other than dogs might be allowed, but only by prior arrangement.

Cars & Campervans

The speed limit while at Nether Oaks Camping is 5 mph. You may take your vehicle down the track along the edge of the wood on the day of arrival and departure to load or unload, but:

If we have had periods of prolonged rain and on arrival or departure days the ground is considered too soft to drive on, please use the trolleys to transport your gear. Help will be provided if required.

We will not accept bookings for caravans or motorhomes (we are not licensed), and we are only licensed for a small number of campervans.

Noise

This is a peaceful, quiet campsite for the enjoyment of nature. We do not allow amplified sound at any time. And after 10.00pm only quiet talking is permitted. Acoustic instruments can be played before then, such as guitars, harmonicas, flutes etc. Noisy visitors who disturb other guests will be asked politely to leave, without refund. If after an evening out you arrive back after 10pm, please leave your car in the farmyard car-park.

Day Visitors

Day visitors are only permitted by prior agreement. Fees may apply.

Showers

Gas for the showers is included in the price of the booking. Please do not use the showers for excessively long periods.

Practicalities

Recycling & Rubbish

All rubbish must be separated for recycling. That means:

No Chemical Toilets Facilities

Chemical toilets are not compatible with composting toilets and we do not offer a chemical disposal point (CDP). So please do not expect to be able to empty chemical toilets on site.

Property Loss

We will hold any lost property handed in for no more than six weeks then gift to a charity if appropriate. Nether Oaks Camping cannot be held responsible for any lost or stolen property.

Breakages & Damage

Should any damage or breakages occur, other than acceptable wear and tear, a charge for repairs or replacement will be made. We reserve the right to charge for excessive cleaning where a pitch has been left in an unacceptable condition, through waste, litter, etc.
